英语角之辩证看问题 English corner: Considering problems in different ways

4月6日,第六周的英语角如约而至。本次英语角,共有6名外教参与其中,他们分别是Mr. Robert Mateja, Ms. Rebecca Reel, Mr. Byron Sherman, Dr. Troy Maurice Smith, Ms .Bronagh Monney 和Ms. Linda. Visner。不到六点,同学们围着六个外教散落在图书馆一楼的各个角落。

Linda谈到了中国教育制度与美国教育制度的区别。在讨论这个问题之前,同学们和Linda都达成了一个共识:两种制度都有着各自的好处。在短短十几年的时间,中国的教育制度能够让中国很大一部分人民接受教育。但是,在教育体制方面却不利于提高学生学习的兴趣和激发学生的潜能。

每个外教的话题都各具特色,有分享自己的经历并且对比中国和美国教育制度的,也有分享自己旅游经历的,还有关于对比不同国家的人民和文化的区别的内容。

通过这一次的英语角,同学们更加深刻感受到了以辩证角度看待事件的重要性。

On April 6th , the English corner was held in library lobby as usual. Mr. Robert Mateja, Ms. Rebecca Reel, Mr. Byron Sherman, Dr. Troy Maurice Smith, Ms. Bronagh Mary Monney and Ms. Linda J. Visner attended the English corner. Surprisingly, it was even before 6p.m. when students began their lively discussion with foreign teachers.

Linda presented a profound topic which was about Sino-American differences in educational systems . Before discussion, Linda and students admitted that both of these systems had some benefits, especially the Chinese educational system, which had enabled most Chinese to receive school education in the past few decades. However, it was difficult for Chinese students to think independently under that system, because it was not the best system in stimulating students’ interest in learning as well as potential.

Each teacher shared interesting topics with students. Not only did they talk about educational systems in China and America, some of them also introduced their travelling experiences and discussed the differences of various countries and people.

Through discussing these topics, students realized the significance of looking at issues dialectically.
